Have Google done another update? Page Rank dropped again. |

Have Google done another update?
My Page Ranking has dropped again, 15th March 2008, I think.
Over the last year I have seen my site drop from a PR6 to a PR3 today. Nearly all my internal pages now have no page rank at all. I am really peed off. If I add links I get penalised if I don't add links I get penalised even more, what is one supposed to do.
Give us a clue Google.
Although my PR has dropped my position seems to have remained pretty much the same so I am thinking Google have done worldwide PR update again over the last week.
If anyone can let me know if this is so I would be obliged. |

Google drops supplemental index |
|
|
Google have now ditched the supplemental results which I am no doubt will please all SEOs and webmasters. Google always denied they penalised sites which were in the supplemental results but we all know that sites indexed there were never going to get found. They still maintain that was the case but have finally got rid of these results and are indexing pages normally again. Although I am finding with some sites they do not appear to be indexing all pages when googlebot comes around. If anyone can tell me why I would appreciate it. I for one am overjoyed they have finally after four years got rid of the supplemental results which as far as I am concerned definately held back some good quality sites.
They have also re-ranked sites with most sites seeing their page rank dropped, including mine, which I am none too happy about, however I still have a PR 4 which aint bad I suppose. Google have apparently manually altered some sites PR rating which must have been a mammoth task in itself. I still do not see why they do not count all the sites that are linking to then I would get back to a PR 6 which what my site used to be. I don't buy links I do not even ask for links mine are all natural. |

Google buys a Search Engine Company |
|
|
Google has purchased DoubleClick, which means that Goolge is now was also the owner of a very large search engine optimization company called Performics, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of DoubleClick. This of course brings into question as to whether Google is to remain unbiased as regards search. Now that they own a search engine company are their clients going to recieve a better Google pagerank than their competitors??. Google has always stated that people cannot pay for better search engine ranking in the organic search index! This is a stance that the Google still says will be adhered to despite buying this search engine optimization company. I wonder? One of Google's published guidelines says, "While Google doesn't have relationships with any SEOs and doesn't offer recommendations" In another part of their guidelines, Google says, "While Google never sells better ranking in our search results, blah blah" Now of course anyone who employs this SEO company Performics will indirectly be paying Google for better search engine placement. How then can this be that Google does not have any special relations with an SEO company. It all sounds a bit black hat to me and against everything most of us ordinary folk believed Google to be against. (They will probably ban me for this) but it is a free internet and anyone should be able to voice their opinions. Then again they may put my page rank up to what it used to be, yeah right, especially as I don't buy links, please note!! Anyway I don't believe us ordinary mortals will now stand a chance against this continuing battle, surely everyone who wants an SEO is now going to go to Perfomics!
Keep on Googling folks! |

Google are penalising link buying at last! |
|
|
I believe linking is dead! http://www.bwservices.co.uk
Google do not count your links like they used too, fact!
I make this claim from personal experience. My website used to have many backlinks from other websites, now Google only list 19 and some of these are internal links.
I get at least 50 web site owners, or designers a week, asking for a link to their site from mine. Me being the affable chap that I am I usually give them a link. I do however expect one in return, fair enough you might say. If that is the case and all these websites link to mine where the bloody hell are they?
Yahoo show my links to be 1,735 sites linking to me. I know, some will be internal links.
MSN show me as having 877.
Great you might think, so why do Google only show 19. I know I have many well ranked links coming from relevant sites in the same field as my own site, but the Google does not see them as relevant. Why I ask?
Are Google now discounting links that have been there for some time? EG. aged links.
Are Google discounting all reciprocal links?
Do links only count if you don't link to them? E.G. one way links. If so how does one get links from well ranked sites?
Well I can probably answer that, you are expected to buy them.
Therefore Google have created another spin off business for certain people in the world. I don't agree with buying links, people should rate your site well enough to link to you. If you have a rubbish website and can buy links to improve your ranking then the whole thing stinks. I have never purchased links, in fact I have never even asked anyone for a link. The only way I get links is by people asking me.
Google are very big business and I think they have gone over the top with their algorithms. The little guy on the web has little chance of getting a high ranking in Google.
When I first put my website together Google gave me a PR6, this was before they had things like the sandbox. I had very few, if any, sites linking to mine, I was a newbie on the web, not to my business I might add. I used to work for another company doing SEO but thought why am I working for someone else, and set up on my own. However I digress, my point being I had few links and Google and all the other search engines ranked my site highly. I know good content and all that, but about a year ago I went down to a PR5 with lots of links, get the picture. Now from Google my site is only a PR4. There seems to be no logic at all to Google, which is probably what they are striving for.
For some of my search phrases I get position one from 20,000,000 pages but I have not even optimised for those phrases. With no links going to that page. It is starting to appear that the more you optimise the worse it gets. The more links you have the worse it gets.
Whereas everyone in my industry, and at Google, says linking is one of the most important things, I genuinely do not believe this is the case anymore. They are somehow filtering out the links, even relevant ones.
I know I have some irrelevant links coming to and from my website but I just like to help other website owners. It takes me a couple of hours a week to add other peoples links to my site and I wondering if it is all worth it anymore. Why should I spend my valuable time putting links on my site, emailing people to say where their link is all for Google to discount them. So from now I am no longer adding anymore links from my site.
At last Google have penalised all those that are buying links. Well done Google! I never agreed with people buying links to improve their sites, if your site is good, web masters will link to you if it isn't they will not. Apparently Google have lowered any sites page rank if they are seen to be buying links. This is the best thing that has happened in the search industry since Google began. I hope the others follow suit and make the search results natural again.
